Nils Olsson has been hand making Dala Horses in Nusnäs, Sweden since 1928. The traditional carved horses began in the villages around Mora and evolved from wooden horses to figures decorated in the Kurbits floral style. From humble beginnings of a family trying to make ends meet, to the first ever Dala Horse "factory," the Olsson horses are still carved and painted by hand today.
